Only a few still know something about the illusionists, wrongdoers, cathedral, miracle healers, occultists, unleashing and transformation artists, abdominal speakers and voice imitators, hypnotists or manipulators. In Linz and Upper Austria, these have occurred regularly in the entertainment theaters, on squares and streets, in the semi -worlds and back rooms, on the markets in spring and in late summer.
In 1908 the Kolosseum entertainment theater on Hessenplatz started its variété program, and in the same year a Chinese artist group showed its arts. One of the most impressive figures was the Chinese magician and acrobat Long Tack Sam, born in the province of Shangdung in 1885, who then married in Vienna and Niederliess. Artists such as Horace Goldin, Buffalo Bill or the Bad Haller Fakir Rayo as well as Caroline Bernhardt or Jacob Weiss stopped in Linz.
Numerous announcement lists and program books, which are rarely received, document the history of Linz entertainment in the early 19th century.
The publication reads like a richly illustrated album of the curiosities and magic skills of that time. It is not to be believed without seeing!, The two thoughts reading miracle girls who appeared in Linz in 1826 already knew.
