Der Zauberer verrät dem Zuschauer das Geheimnis des Kartenspiels.
Er erzählt dem Zuschauer, dass Magier die Kartenspiele schneller austauschen können, als das Auge sehen kann. Da die Rückseiten der Kartenspiele die gleiche Farbe haben, ist der Austausch nicht zu erkennen. Um diese Tatsache zu veranschaulichen, sagt der Zauberkünstler, dass er ein blaues Kartenspiel mit einem roten Kartenspiel austauschen wird. Er wirft das blaue Kartenspiel von der rechten in die linke Hand, aber auch hier ist der Moment des Austauschs nicht zu erkennen. Das Einzige, was der Zuschauer mitbekommt, ist, dass sich das geworfene blaue Kartenspiel in ein rotes Kartenspiel verwandelt hat.
Dann holt der Zauberkünstler das rote Kartenspiel aus der roten Schachtel und fordert den Zuschauer auf, eine Karte zu wählen. Die gewählte Karte wird auf den Tisch gelegt. Der Zauberer wirft den Rest des roten Kartenspiels von einer Hand in die andere und das rote Kartenspiel wird blau.
Die einzige rote Karte ist die gewählte Karte. Zum Schluss wird die gewählte Karte oben auf das Kartenspiel gelegt und das Kartenspiel wird von einer Hand in die andere geworfen, wodurch das Kartenspiel wieder rot wird.
