Ein Kartenspiel wird auf einen Tisch gelegt. Ein Zuschauer wird gebeten, an eine beliebige Spielkarte zu denken, und der Zauberkünstler sagt, dass er sie benennen wird.
Nach einem Moment des Nachdenkens erklärt der Zauberkünstler: „Der Name deiner Karte ist Phil! Du weißt schon, kurz für Phillip!“ Das Publikum ist verständlicherweise ein wenig überrascht. Der Stapel wird herausgenommen und zeigt dann, dass auf der Rückseite jeder Karte ein anderer Name fett gedruckt ist. Wenn das Kartenspiel aufgedeckt wird und die vom Zuschauer genannte Karte gefunden wird, ist es die einzige Karte mit dem Namen Phil!

Historische Anmerkung: Die grundlegende Handlung dieser Routine geht auf Fred Lowes „Christened Reverse“ zurück. In den letzten Jahrzehnten sind viele Methoden entwickelt worden. Es hat sich herausgestellt, dass Trevor Duffy eine Version mit dem Titel „Final Fred“ neu erfunden hat, die von Phil Goldstein in den frühen 1980er Jahren entwickelt wurde.
Diese Routine wurde erstmals in einem Vortrag auf dem FISM-Kongress 1985 in Madrid vorgestellt. Duffy und Goldstein haben die Frage dieser früheren Erfindung und den ironischen Zufall des Titels besprochen, und wir freuen uns, dass eine faire Vereinbarung getroffen wurde und dieses Stück mit Phil Goldsteins Zustimmung vermarktet wird.
