The book about the great magician Fred Kaps!
Fred Kaps (1926-1980) is considered the greatest magician ever. On the occasion of his 40th anniversary of death, Michel van Zeist reminds how the triple world champion of magic from the Netherlands really was. In Fred Kaps, master magician, he woke up memories, including from his daughter Barry Schatz-Bongers and his former colleague Flip Hallema. Two prominent faces of today's magic world - the Dutch Hans Kazàn and Hans Klok - share their views on Kaps and the magic scene in general.
The loyal fans of Fred Kaps had to wait four decades, but now his biggest secrets can finally be ventilated. Michel's biography gives a deep insight into the life of the "Johan Cruijff of Magic". Kap's career, his repertoire and his private life are explained and discussed by people who really knew him from different perspectives.
Discover the story behind his famous salt trick and why his costumes had to be midnight blue. Both amateur and professional mutants can learn from the master for themselves what they do and what they shouldn't do.
Henk Vermeyden (1908-1988) is also discussed in detail. This trainer and manager of magic artists founded the Dutch Magic Union (NMU) and the Fédération Internationale of the Sociétés Magiques (FISM). Vermeyden was the "Zauberdandy", who looked after by his t canzes at Kezerschracht and at the Kloveniersburgwal in Amsterdam from several world champions, including Fred Kaps. Many famous magicians and illusionists, including Siegfried & Roy, were looking for advice. What tips and tricks have been exchanged? Not least thanks to Vermeyden's merits, the Netherlands were the leading magic nation in the world for many years.
With the permission of the family of Fred Kaps and unrestricted access to the archives of this legend, Michel gives an exclusive insight into life and the time of this unique artist: Fred Kaps, master magician.
